X Share AI ("we," "our," or "the extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps users generate AI-powered tweets from webpage content and share them to X (formerly Twitter). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Data Stored Locally

The following information is stored locally on your device using Chrome's secure storage system:

• API Configuration: Your API key, API endpoint URL, and model name

• Usage History: Local history of generated tweets and captured content (stored temporarily)

Data We Do NOT Collect

• Browsing history beyond the current tab you choose to capture

How We Use Your Information

Local Processing

• All webpage content extraction happens locally in your browser
• Screenshots are captured and processed locally
• Your preferences and settings are stored locally on your device

External API Communication

The extension only communicates with external services in the following limited scenarios:

1. AI API Calls: When you click "Generate Tweet," the extension sends:
   • Extracted webpage content (text only)
   • Your selected tweet style and language preferences
   • Your custom prompt (if used)

   This data is sent to the AI API endpoint you configure (OpenAI, OpenRouter, or other compatible services) solely for the purpose of generating tweet content.

2. X (Twitter) Integration: When you click "Share to X," the extension opens X's official sharing interface with your generated tweet content.

What We Do NOT Send

• Your API keys (stored locally only)
• Personal browsing data
• Screenshots (processed locally only)
• User preferences or settings
• Any data from websites you don't explicitly choose to capture

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

• All sensitive data is stored using Chrome's secure chrome.storage.sync API
• Data is encrypted and synchronized across your Chrome browsers when signed in
• No data is stored on our servers

API Security

• Your API keys are never transmitted to us or stored on external servers
• API communications use HTTPS encryption
• You have full control over which AI service provider you use

Third-Party Services

When you use the extension, you may send data to third-party AI services such as:

Data Deletion

Permissions Explained

The extension requests the following permissions:

• activeTab: To capture content from the webpage you're currently viewing
• storage: To save your preferences and API configuration locally
• tabs: To open X sharing pages
• clipboardWrite: To copy screenshots to clipboard (optional feature)
• host_permissions: To access webpage content for extraction

Children's Privacy

This extension is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Data Retention

• Local preferences and settings are retained until you uninstall the extension
